this has been a very, very good day.

Removed the LCD screen from pretty much the entire lid of the laptop and transported it into the new lid. It is green. Really. Really. Green. I do not yet know if Adam the laptop approves.

...seriously, it's green.

Notes: if anyone needs to remove their LCD screen basically from the entire lid of their laptop and they have a Dell--it's not as terrifying as it looks. Just A.) keep track of your screws and B.) relax. It actually was a lot easier than I thought, though I had to be rougher on the old bezel (front around the screen) to get it off. Also, on mine, the directions weren't clear about the microphone/camera connector; I wasn't supposed to remove it from the tiny panel. I had to unscrew and move the entire tiny panel it was attached to, because that did not come with the cover. It went pretty fast. Start to finish, twenty minutes, including time to grab my old laptop and get some screws from it when I lost a couple. Doubtless my foot will find it soon enough.

daemonicangel bid on katekat1010 at the last Haiti dollar drive and um, asked for her to make me a pic for (this is) not a statement, which she explained in this comment. *hands* Okay, seriously, the multiple levels of awesome in that sentence cannot enough be emphasized. I'm hotlinking to the pic because I'm having a fight with my website and LJ is being difficult about uploading, so below cut.

Seriously. I spent like, a lot of time staring blankly going "Really?" This is kind of beyond a thank you, but first, thank you daemonicangel so much, and katekat1010 for making something so dammn cool, and second, look at it. I really just--a lot of gratitude. This makes up for the fact I broke 40K today on a fic that started at a thousand, not including the 10K or so I've cut out of the main story so far, or the original version I trashed because it was--weird. How do I get into these kinds of messes I just do not know.

So my night was pretty darn good. I actually feel less actively homicidal about work. Yeah. Less homicidal.

*nods* Srsly. I kept thinking, maybe she meant someone else? Not that this will be taken from my cold dead hands or anything. Cause, wow. Just wow.

gorgeous! she does amazing work!

*nodnodnod* I've spent quality time admiring it. It's just so pretty. And I love the layout like whoa.

This is beautiful. And your fic is possibly my favorite in the whole fandom. (I haven't commented on the latest update cuz I haven't found words.)

*glee* It's an amazing cover. I just keep looking at it, like, a lot.

And thank you very much!

1. That poster is amazing, and you totally deserve it.

2. Would you mind explaining, once again, in Captain Dummy speak, what exactly a bezel is? And how you pronounce it?

God, I'm textual, pronouncing things is so not my forte. I think rhymes with weasel, with teh emphasis on the first vowel. Bee-zel, long e in the first syllable, short e in the second. I think that's how to say it.

Go here and skim down to Display Bezel. There's a picture underneath that shows the LCD screen with the bezel floating over it.

I just learned what to call it when my hinge broke, so I still kind of have to refer to the picture. From what I can tell after taking this apart, it basically surrounds and protects the edges of the LCD screen and covers the hinges and some of the wiring that is attached to the back cover.

Belatedly, I wish I'd taken pictures of the process now so my explanation is easier to follow.

Fantastic! Thanks for the link, too; my computer seems to have bent its hinge somehow (passing blame, anyone?) and I'm either going to have to suck it up and pay someone to fix it, or play with it myself. To be honest, I'll probably do both. Either way, I like knowing exactly what I'm seeing.

Omg that cover's pretty.

And also you own that LCD cover and lid, whoooooo!!

Totes my bitch, yo. And suchworth. Weirdly fun, and yet, stressful.

aww, i'm glad you liked it! she really does great work (before she did my request for winterlive's future legend and before that, a ton of other fantastic stories' art for other people).

today was the first time i saw it, too (because comment notifications are being bad at _ai and are burying everything and i unconsciously ignore the upper bar on livejournal itself). i wasn't too sure if you'd like the pic used for kris since his hair is really short there, lol, and i know in your story it's not (he's only recently started to grow it out quite a bit -- if you're easily amused, there's this).

it's kind of silly how much art i'm gonna have done for this story, haha -- and there's so many great images that could be done from your writing, too, so it's hard to pick and choose. i've just been enjoying this story so much. \o/ i'll be sad when it ends, but it'll have been such a spectacular ride i won't be able to dwell on it too long.

Mmmm, that's a pretty fic cover.

Aww, look! People like you! They really like you!

No, seriously, that's super-badass, and so pretty!

Beautiful cover for your fanfic. Loved the composition of it.

wow, that cover is gorgeous, omg.
