This Hide-and-Seek Makes Me an Addict: A Most Excellent Tale in Four Parts by syllic - Merlin futurefic! Except. Well. I think people from a certain fannish background will get it a lot faster. In which Merlin and Arthur still save people and create amazing things and light up the world. Also, Merlin is underage in Mississippi.

Now you know you want to read it. *points* Go. Trust me, there is this moment circa Part 3, after you had totes convinced yourself, no, you're on crack, and then! Then! You weren't wrong. Though maybe you are on crack, but I'm not judging you or anything.

syllic? I totally want to have your babies. *still laughing*

I come from that certain fannish background, and am so damn amazingly thrilled you rec'd this. you cannot imagine my gleeface!

may I borrow your summary? I need to rec this widely, and couldn't think of any better way to do so without spoiling the reveal fun for readers

Feel free!

Seriously, it's just--*DIES* So much fun.

Oh. My. God. *dies laughing*

Fortunately, I am of a Certain Fannish Background, so I started going "No. Way." very early on.

I'm not even of the background, just toured deeply within the territory, and every so often I'd check myself, wondering why is this familiar?

Then I was happy.

I have... very much wanted to have your babies for many years, actually. So if you'll just fetch the albino alien-looking guy, I think we can impregnate him with our combined genetic materials, which would, in my view, be like both of us having each other's babies: WIN-WIN MPREG?

No, seriously--this is the silliest thing to have ever been born at 11am on a Thursday, and yet it amused you, and I can't tell you how thrilled I am about that.

Your summary is amazing; your kindness is undeserved; your happiness makes me happy.

Yours, underage in Mississippi and otherwise,
syllic

That's kind of brilliant. *dazed*

...seriously, there is nothing about this that isn't like, so totally awesomely awesome that I keep re-reading. Mostly for the endless image of Arthur dancing. On a stage. And disturbed by the crying girls. While singing. Wearing braids. And directing his knights--er, his bandmates! In battle--I mean, performances!

I mean, I cannot honestly see how any reincarnation fic ever can top this, but oh my God, I want a challenge now to see what would happen if they ended up everywhere.

Short version--thank you for this. I shrieked when I realized what I was reading.

This was better than the one where they are My Little Ponies. And I thought few things would top it.

I'm now waiting for the knights to start with the pop n lock.

And completly stealing this rec.

Edited for better icon.

oh my God yes. I now think of Merlin the Boyband Musical and want to cry that it does not exist.

I just discovered about 5 minutes ago that Mercedes Lackey wrot a book featuring King Arthur. I PROMISE that the boyband version would be better.

Really, the only problem with this fic is that you and I and EVERYONE know damn well that Mr. JT=Arthur.

Gwenhwyfar the White Spirit a Novel of King Arthur
Gwenhwyfar moves in a world where gods walk among their pagan worshipers, where nebulous visions warn of future perils, and where there are two paths for a woman: the path of the Blessing or the rarer path of the Warrior. Gwenhwyfar chooses the latter, giving up the power that she is born into. Yet the daughter of a King is never truly free to follow her own calling. Acting as the "son" her father never had, when called upon to serve another purpose by the Ladies of the Well, she bows to circumstances to become Arthur's queen-only to find herself facing temptation and treachery, intrigue and betrayal, but also love and redemption..

I totally agree--but the thing is, I think given time (and a few lifetimes after that), Arthur would have to outgrow his diva pissiness, dawg, and yet BBC Arthur is too pissy not to become dry-humour cynical about life and others. Hence: Chris Pendratrick, The King Who Once Outgrew The Diva Inside But Not The Future Obsession With Protecting Others. Or, you know, something like that. Oh, all right--I just needed someone to make fun of Merlance, okay? And if popslash fanon has taught us anything, it's that Chris was frenetically and inexplicably harsh to Lance until he pulled him away from a Euro leather daddy, and revealed his brashness was really code for lurve, y/y? (God, I detest this handheld device thing, WAY TOO NEWFANGLED FOR MY BLOOD. I can't even zoom in enough to log on. I apologise.)

THIS.

Me: huh, this sounds... familiar.

...

No... it's not.

...

AHAHAHAH OMG YES IT IS! *snickers*

... I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed that I realized wtf was going on early on... though I wasn't sure on the specifics, coming from the other side of that particular war ("well, none of them are cousins so it's not BSB... braids?? was there a rapping 5-some back then too????")

omg, I am only most of the way through part one and am dying. Also want to make a Tristan/Merlin icon for myself ;)
