Four things:

1.) I'll be in Chicago from Thursday to Sunday to play with svmadelyn and various Chicago people and introduce her to my friend V, so if there is anything I am supposed to be doing that needs doing and I forgot, really need to email me so I know. Because um, I forgot.

2.) svmadelyn and I on an offnight. I am not writing this fic.

seperis: They have thirty years adn this is an immortal freaking sorcerer and a magic-created king.
seperis: I am not hugely worried about their future together.
svmadelyn: plus, guin only cheats on arthur with his blessing while he and merlin go "questing for the grail"
svmadelyn: and questing for the grail is a great euphemism, really
seperis: You know, that at least makes the legend make sense.
svmadelyn: exactly!
seperis: ARTHUR; WE ARE GOING TO LOOK FOR THE HOLY GRAIL NOW.
seperis: Gwen: *holds up grail*
seperis: ARTHUR: THE HOLY PLATE
svmadelyn: Gwen: found that last week.
svmadelyn: Merlin: AND NOW THERE IS A HOLY FORK.
seperis: ARTHUR: HOLY FUCKING FORK MMMKAY?
svmadelyn: Lancelot: *pitying look*
seperis: Gwen: You--know everyone knows, right?
svmadelyn: merlin: of course they do. the fork is a legend.
seperis: Lancelot: ....his clothes are in your room.
svmadelyn: lancelot: good god, gwen. just let them leave.
svmadelyn: arthur: new promotion for you!

Literary genius. That is in the unexpunged versions that Geoffrey wrote on the sly. Had pictures, even. The Catholic Church has robbed us. Totally in their vaults.

3.) Speaking of svmadelyn....

svmadelyn and the divine linaerys, writer of Springtime Promises, one of my three most re-read Merlin fics ever, have brought us the Merlin Big Bang sign-ups at boxofmagic. More information can be found here.

4.) If I need to rec this, I will be hugely surprised.

Crown of the Summer Court by astolat, Merlin/Arthur, I know, shocking, and um. Okay. I love the plot and everything, don't get me wrong, and omg Arthur in combat, thank you God and astolat, but....

"Arthur," Merlin whispered again, full of so much longing it curled into Arthur's stomach as though it was his own sensation, and maybe it was. Merlin's cock was brushing against his, hot and slick; Merlin was nosing softly at his face, and then with an oddly thoughtful air, he bit down on Arthur's lip. Arthur jerked, hot and coppery taste on his own tongue, to see the slick of crimson bright on Merlin's mouth, marking him, and Arthur's whole body shocked all the way through with something so far out of his experience it took him a moment to recognize it as pleasure.

Sit down first. And bring a cold drink. Sex magic is sexy. And sometimes, it involves whips. Sexy whips.

Right. There we go. Finished serpent fic, staring at it and disturbed that since sending it to beta, I've added two pages. This can't end well.

Right, so--I am in Chicago. I totally understand if you are massively busy, because Thursday to Sunday is not a long time, but--if you want to have coffee, talk about Merlin, bounce ideas about your fic in real-time, whatever--let me know!

NO, would love to! Yes, please! svmadelyn is putting together a dinner thing on Saturday if you have time? Entry here and yes! Or another time if that one isn't doable, just let me know.

Yes, okay! There's...well, there's sort of another thing that night, that I am sort of debating skipping, but I will at least come for a little while! If you would like to and would have time to hang out more leisurely on Friday or earlier Saturday, I would be totally down for that as well. Otherwise, see you Saturday evening!

YES LOVE. Sorry, I've had an insanely busy few days. OMG I MUST. HAVE. MORE. MMKAY?

Oooh Chicago!

What I have learned living here for 10 months:
Chicago is good eating. Lots and lots of good eating.

Also, kinda fun to pretend that you wandered through a random Due South episode.

I lol'd at item 2. If only someone were willing to turn that into a fic. *pointed sigh* And oh my god, Crown of the Summer Court, it made my life. Then again, all her stories do.

svmadelyn: arthur: new promotion for you!

Suddenly, the whole legend makes sense.

Mind you, I always thought going off in search of a holy cup was kind of silly, so IT'S ENTIRELY POSSIBLE that Merlin and Arthur also spent weeks searching for a holy fork. And possibly the holy napkin holder, the holy salt shaker and the holy cake knife too.

If you think of "Holy Grail" as a euphemism for "Taking my sorcerer boyfriend for exhibitionistic sex in random locations throughout Albion" then suddenly, the entirety of Arthurian legend just snaps into focus.

4.) If I need to rec this, I will be hugely surprised.

Well, apparently you *did* need to rec this, as I had no clue it existed. Which was just WRONG and BAD and NOT GOOD AT ALL. Thanks for the heads up! ^_^

I freaking love astolat. She's one of very few people who can make me like kinks that would normally send me screaming from the room. Speaking of which, I really need to go reread Crown of the Summer Court now. Again. ;)

Literary genius. That is in the unexpunged versions that Geoffrey wrote on the sly. Had pictures, even. The Catholic Church has robbed us. Totally in their vaults.

After ready Geoffrey's fanfic, I have to say I totally hope you're right about this. :P

Now that I've finished watching all of Merlin, I find myself eager to gobble up all the fic that's available, so many thanks for the ongoing rec parade.

Oh! Oh! You should check this for pictures of Kate McGrath & Colin Morgan being very cute. With scruff and longer hair, Colin doesn't even look like he's twelve and his ears don't look ready to take flight. (...What. Like I'm the only one who thinks his ears are a tad sticky-outy?)

seperis: Gwen: You--know everyone knows, right?
svmadelyn: merlin: of course they do. the fork is a legend.
seperis: Lancelot: ....his clothes are in your room.
svmadelyn: lancelot: good god, gwen. just let them leave.
svmadelyn: arthur: new promotion for you!

Hehehe. The quest for the Holy Gravy Boat!

Ummmmm, that anon comment about the gravy boat was totally me. Sorry about that. WTF LJ, WTF?

Got it! LJ has been odd about login recently.

[info]seperis: They have thirty years adn this is an immortal freaking sorcerer and a magic-created king.
seperis: I am not hugely worried about their future together.

(yes, reading through old entries!)

I've seen a lot of people complain that they have trouble with Merlin because they "know it's going to have a sad ending", and really, I kind of boggle. Because a) there's a lot of myths to choose from, and b) even if you go with the most famous one, Arthur and Merlin have many long years in which they unite Albion and Arthur rules over a court that is one of the glories of the world and have great adventures. On top of which neither of them actually *dies* and both are sleeping/waiting for another time. As (pseudo) history goes? That's not exactly a miserable story. Really, Guinevere is the only on who gets a genuinely *unhappy* ending and even there I believe she shows up as one of the Queens in Avalon in some versions, along with Morgana.
