Preliminary Results:

We have learned that Contender #2: Canson Tracing, 25 lb is not going to cut it. Very nice transparency, not too flimsy, but is not OTP with adhesive in that way that it becomes damp and annoys me and also crumples.

Mystery Paper #1 and Canson Vellum 50 lb continue to dominate. They're very very close in both weight and texture, so I'm not sure there's really htat much of a choice between them.

Glue used: 3M Scotch Glue Stick Restickable Adhesive. Kinda made of win. Still kind of unsure of vertical surface use. Does so far however adhere after several pull-offs and resticks on horizontal surfaces, does not tear paper, does not leave a sticky track behind on paper, and does not smear pencil or ink noticeably.)

(Unless like you rub your thumb *really really hard* on it. That also hurts.)

Details as they arrive. Though now I'm wondering, since I have access to the Super Cool Paper Cutter, if I should measure my book and see what I can do with some various sized Sticky Notes of Clarity.

ETA: yes, yes yes, this does have a tag all its own.

ETA 2: The Super Cool Paper Cutter sucks. Deeply. It *threw off my measurements*. I decided to test strips at 8 inch length by 2 1/4 inch width and not consistent during cutting. I have never hated office supplies more.

I bet I could convince supply to buy a new cutter. Hmm.

I worry about you sometimes.

I just woke up half an hour ago! The phone is all the way over *there*!

*dies* Let us modify.

I worry about you A LOT sometimes.

Your transparent envy is breathtaking.

(two sizes! 3X3 and 2 1/2 X 8!)

*happy*

*beams* Guess what your representative picture on my cell phone is now!

IT IS AS MUCH AS I AM A RABBIT IN A WITCH'S HAT.

DO I HAVE ANOTHER ONE? NO I DO NOT.

While I'm still trying to figure out the need for transparent stickies - I applaud your scientific interest.

Also, it just seems like *fun*. Heck, just the Post-it Glue Stick seems like fun. Maybe I'll get one next time I order office supplies.

They are *made of win*. It's--like a miracle really.

*looks at them longingly*

Somewhat relatedly: Memento - stickynotes for your desktop! Possibly one of the most useful little free programs I've ever had the occasion to use.

Ooh, I kept seeing that pop up when I was searching for post-its and totally forgot to follow up! Thanks!

Very highly recommended. It is very unobtrusive, except when you need it to be in your face.

You scare me sometimes Jenn...not that the almost obsessive interest in something useful is bad... *suddenly has image if you actually sitting there making pads of these*

Memento rules. I'd forgotten about reinstalling that when I reinstalled Windoze...

...I turnd them into pads. They're cute! I used the adhesive to glue them into a little pad (er, two pads, one 3 by 3 and one 2 1/4 or a 1/2 by eight), and okay, yes, you cna totlaly tell the paper cutter sucks, but *so awesome*.

I'm thinking about this adhesive though. I may have to reaply once I start sticking them to things after putting them in pad form. Or check the post-it glue stuff.

Hee. Yeah, paper cutters can be totally shit like that...the amount of times I've been trimming the white edge of photographs I've printed and the measurements are off at the end...

The post-it stuff would probably be your best bet...

This odyssey is beautiful in its geeky glory. Made more awesome by the fact that it is about paper.

It is truly awesome paper.

Though i keep *thinking* about the other brands there. They could be *even more transparent*.

Oh god. At least you didn't go running far, far away.

And hi!

ETA 2: The Super Cool Paper Cutter sucks. Deeply. It *threw off my measurements*. I decided to test strips at 8 inch length by 2 1/4 inch width and not consistent during cutting. I have never hated office supplies more.

Ugh. The teacher's library at my old Alma Mater had a *whole back ROOM* full of lovely office supplies and paper cutters and pretty pretty cut-out shapes. But the paper cutters sucked, every last one of them. I had to carefully individually cut important papers, or bundle them in groups of no more than 5. Boos

This project sounds like its going well, however: post finished product pictures online?

I started taking them with my phone, but they look-not pretty. *sad* but functional.

Soon.

(Unless like you rub your thumb *really really hard* on it. That also hurts.)

I love that you totally tried this. Also the 3M Scotch Glue Stick Restickable Adhesive is made of win. I love being the office supply admin at my job.

Why must you make me want to buy more office supplies?

I have an office supplies wishlist. Literally. MY FANTASIES OF OFFICE SUPPLIES.

And now this is going to have to go on the list. And I am considering hitting Staples tonight just for this

*weeps*

You are a bad, bad influence.

Will there be photos? Maybe with usage examples? *g* To be honest, I'm still kind of unsure about the usefulness of transparent sticky notes, but then I don't use non-tranparent ones much either.
