Okay, when I joke about protective hysterical amnesia after reading certain fic?

That is real!!!!!

Or so a chat a year ago seems to imply, when I was like "I HAVE READ THIS THING WITH ****-***** and there was ** ****** **** and OH MY GOD I WILL NEVER BE CLEAN AGAIN.

And she shows me a conversation....

(wait. I need to take a minute.

A conversation. Where we. Talked. About. This. Story.

I'd poll on my rapidly degenerating cognitive processes, but it would be far too depressing.

Right. Onward to other things.

amireal mulls fic tropes: make that *a* fic trope - There needs to be more coming out fic. This used to be a BIG THEME a few fandoms ago, but themes, as we know, come and go. Today it's wings, a few years ago it was pretending to be gay FOR THE GOOD OF THE UNIVERSE.

So I crave old themes in my new fandoms. Mmm. Coming out fic.

I don't just mean "We're gay now!" fic. But-- John is accused of murder and Rodney is his alibi! Only it was night time and they were sleeping together!

Or or! John and Rodney are trying to live their lives after atlantis and they run into parents/siblings/exwives/old classmates etc!

I really like the murder one. Or ooh--both of them accused. Or Rodney or John accused of fathering some alien savior!

Seriously. Where the hell are the saviors? Considering worship of the Ancients? There should be holy born kids already.

(it's already been a long day. I woke up late. My shirt is not dry. It happens.)

Random Questions

There was this fic. Not the bdsm ones. It wasn't in SGA. But it was this entire universe that was gay. And--that probably hits a lot of stories, doesn't it? *sighs* I think this one was possibly in Stargate SG1--i read it, er, about five years agoish.

Okay. When I say "gay-making environment", it sounds silly, but this one is kind of cool. They go to this planet, where--okay, I'll quote.

"I went to the Captain to ask permission to ask to study your people," he
informed them. "You're fascinating. You have the same outward appearance as
Earth Humans, but certain factors about you-"

The Pagenisians nodded knowingly and Wani interrupted him. "It is the fact
that our entire population is homosexual."

"That always is of great curiosity for any off-worlders," Sno chimed in.

"Well, it *is* rather unusual," the EMH admitted. "Homosexuality exists in
our home quadrant, yet only on an individual to individual basis, not an entire
planetary population. The closest there is to it is a small number of species
that are androgynous. However, all of them have been androgynous since their
species began to evolve. At least, as far as we have been able to discover. We
don't have any species that exclusively are homosexual. And according to the
Captain, your people were *heterosexual* until forty-seven generations ago when
everyone made a conscious decision to become homosexual? We have never
encountered a culture like yours before. For centuries, scientists have been
attempting and failing to explain, in scientific terms, incidents of
homosexuality in *individuals*. In an *entire planet*, that's more complicated.
It is quite the mystery from a sociological as well as biological point of

The authors' website is down, and I couldn't find it in Trekiverse (which granted, is not the most easily navigatable archive in history), so used wayback. It does make interesting use of the Prime Directive. This also qualifies as literally the first slash story I ever, ever, ever read. Yes. I remember being very surprised.

If anyone has an alternative link, I'd love a better one.

I should do work at work today. Let me consider this thoroughly.

Pshaw. Who needs to work? Obviously, our day would be better spent amusing each other. Although I do have to finish my atlantisbasics story and beta another. Le sigh.

It's all rainy here, but I'm kind of glad because the meteorologists have been pulling out the dreaded "drought" about our summer to date.

I honestly think I've read more badfic in SGA than any previous fandom. My love of the characters draws me in, and then it's like a trainwreck and I can't look away.

I honestly think I've read more badfic in SGA than any previous fandom. My love of the characters draws me in, and then it's like a trainwreck and I can't look away.

I know the feeling. Smallville still beats it? But I think tha'ts because my tolerances were a lot lower then. *sad* I'm sure SGA will catch up.

Now I'm really curious which story triggered the hysterical amnesia.

It's not a bad story! That's the funny part and what makes it traumatizing. It's the yuletide Care Bear bondage fic. Bent. Mind.

Yet so freaking *hysterical*. I bookmarked it.

Heh, about the murder plot, I actually have had a plot for an "original" (and I use that term loosely) romance fic set in cowboy times where the handsome stranger is accused of murder, but he can't have done it because he was having sex with the heroine's sister who was married and so she comes crying to the heroine that she can't be the handsome stranger's alibi because it would ruin her marriage and her reputation. He refuses to name the woman he was with because he's noble and stupid that way, and so at the trial the heroine comes forward and lies on the stand and claims he was with her. So he gets acquitted because the heroine is (or rather was) a well-respected ranch-owner (of course), and in order to salvage her now tattered reputation, she and the handsome stranger must marry! Wacky hijinks ensue involving the real murderer and cattle rustling or stage holdups, or shady bank managers... something. And in the end they fall in love and have lots and lots of sex. *g*

OOOOOH. I like this! VERY MUCH!

Train-related fraud? Something to do with strongboxes and local banks?

I haven't had my caffiene yet and the slash goggles are, like, surgically implanted and I thought that it was going to be the heroine's brother he slept with. Or something. Which, uh, mind you I think the original thing is pretty awesome! I am going to go drink some soda and pretend I am awake.

amireal mulls fic tropes:

You cannot taunt me with fic like this and then not give me actual links to actual examples of said fic! *flails* I have no idea why, but right this minute, I would probably give up my firstborn for fic like that. Especially the Rodney and John post Atlantis running into People They Once Knew. Post Atlantis is made of awesome. (Tho colony!Atlantis, and John/Rodney with the colony!Atlantis, is way better.)

*is getting rather flail-y* I shall go now. And trawl delicious. Or work. One of the two.

*sad* I want too. Muchly.

Work schmerk. Our systems have been having fun pretending they're yo-yos today - so much fun! Having the extra time, and not much to do, I took your comment of "There should be holy born kids already" to heart. Double drabble posted at my page to save room on your journal, if you are interested.

Dude, I wrote right this about 2 years ago! Hopefully someone will pick up the prompt and make a fanfiction out of it, because my own is German and, well, over 2 years old *g* (and also not finished).

oooh. but you could *finish it*. and maybe translate it to German? *hopeful*

Seriously. Where the hell are the saviors? Considering worship of the Ancients? There should be holy born kids already.

Hmm, a bit late for the post, but I've always had the idea of John and/or the natural gene carriers being seen as your gods/deities and the ones that got the therapy being seen as imposters/devils/second-class citizens/something really, really bad.

I was never sure if it would be outsiders thinking such or if something happened to make the expedition themselves think that (because John would, of course, be the leader of the naturals and Rodney would be the leader of those w/the therapy, which leads to all sorts of confrontation) or hell, an AU of such.

Not sure where those without the gene would be in the grand scheme of things. Worshippers?
