*hugs* Happy Birthday nonchop!!! May your day have been wonderful and all kinds of fun stuff!

*more hugs and dancing, too*

To anyone who just needs to laugh until they cry. Seriously.

Was Lucas high when he authorized this? Although technically only 120 minutes long, the "Holiday Special" has the futuristic ability to slow time, and one emerges from its vortex some six days later bearded, weeping, defeated and sporting a limp..

Special mention of Wookie Porn.

*still laughing*

I have saved this link for *four years* in my Never Ever Delete Ever folder. Ever.

I love salon.com

I, in fact, named it exactly that in your honor.

"The Star Wars Holiday Special" is like a massive train wreck -- you see it coming, it makes a whole lotta noise and it's really, really long.

I might have stopped breathing a little. From the laughing, that is; just so we're clear. *g*

SW geek here - at least I was for a looong time

I had heard of this legendary Holiday Special but the details were a little too bizarre to be believed. Now I know the awful truth.

Omg, I still remember watching that! The horror! The utter, ridiculous, surely it will get better, horror!

I have a tape of this, and live in constant fear that stormtroopers will one day swarm my house looking for it, given the level of control freak that Lucas is. (That god those guys can't hit the side of a barn on their best day.) I made a room full of people (well, fans) watch it, without giving them any drugs or alcohol even. Not so the actors! There were a lot of comments along the lines of: "OMIGOD, Carrie's eyes are pointing in DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS!!!" "Better living through chemistry." "I actually feel sorriest for Harrison Ford, he's the only one who doesn't seem to be high." "Yeah, who'da thought he'd be such a good sport?"

Ah, I remember reading that review...
