Hi to new friends! *waves* Just you know, feel welcome. Pull up easy chairs and all.

It's late, I'm bored, and also, I'm the tiniest bit drunk, from, of all things, cherry schnapps. Which, by the way, is like sucking on a jolly rancher. The candy, that is. Sweet as hell.

Gakked directly from jmtorres word for word.

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach." (anyone who comments to say only that you like spinach shall be thwapped. unless, of course, that's the only thing of interest about you. but if you're just doing it to be smartass... *G*)

Hmm. To compensate, ask me any one question, if you wish, and I'll answer it as best I can.

I'm still getting over the other night when I didn't recognize josselin's AIM name. Sooo embarassing. So very, very embarassing.

I regularly expect animals to reply me when I talk to them and then I get all sad for a while when they don't.

They're teasing you, you know. Like they *can't* talk. Bah. I read Narnia, after all. They're just being mean.

*g*

*thinks about smacking animals for being teases, but is kind of scared of them*

I talk to my car. Sometimes it even obeys me.

What's your favorite type of candy?

*awed* An obedient car.

Hmmm. Chocolate, Godiva, no nuts. I have Nut Issues with sweets. But the convenience store girl in me goes for the M&M's every time. Just so convenient. And pretty. Well, okay, the black and white thing going on now not so much, but usually? Pretty.

I talk to myself quite frequently. Not in an insane way, just...in a thoughtful way. But doesn't everybody? Uh, I used to dance in the dark a lot. Is that strange? or is that just a sign of deep inhibitions....

What's your favorite book?

I talk to myself quite frequently. Not in an insane way, just...in a thoughtful way. But doesn't everybody?

God, I hope so. I have this horrible habit of having half a conversation in my head and the other part out loud when I'm thinking too hard.

Uh, I used to dance in the dark a lot. Is that strange? or is that just a sign of deep inhibitions....

*G* Dancing is *fun*.

What's your favorite book?

What day is it? *G*

My standby is The Mists of Avalon, because of the sheer amount of weight in it, all that wonderful epicness. But Pride and Prejudice sometimes switches with it. I just love the dialogue and the speed of the plot. And such a *clean* read. *happy sigh*

It changes, though, depending on what mood I'm in and what I've been reading most recently.

Um, I study computer engineering but my favorite subject is history.

I have also been known to eat a half pound of Sizzling Cinnamon Jelly Bellys in one sitting.

I'm boring. =)

Mmm. Cinnamon. *drools* I love those Jelly Belly ones with mix and match flavors. Though the popcorn ones always scare me a little.

Damn. Now I'm hungry again.

*waves shyly* I can't sleep, so I shall boldly reply. You know, the very first stories I read of yours was your Logan/Jean How Things Change series because I'm a *cough*Redshipper*cough* It's my favorite X-Men series fic by the way. And I'm so lucky that you like Brian/Justin and write fic with them. So, you may think of me as the little Redshipper who now reads you QaF fic :)

Okay, umm, I can't think of a question. Anything you wanna tell is good. :D

Hee! You're QaF? How cool! AND X-Men! *Grins*

I like to think of QaFUS as a plague, spreading happily across LJland. *g*

Hmm. I like Brussels sprouts. I mean, really *like* them. Drowned in butter and salt.

Hi! My name is Katie and I'm 23. I live in Missouri and green is just the best color ever, don't you think?

My likes include ice cream and rainbows and fluffy, fluffy kittens. My dislikes include the entire UPN line-up, hay fever and people who litter.

As far as hobbies go, I spent quite a bit of time building fangirl shrines and lighting/blowing out a myriad of candles. When I'm not busy with that, occasionally I write Logan/Rogue fanfic. There's also a bit of useless graphic making thrown in for good measure.

If I had three wishes, I'd wish for firmer thighs, unending sunshine, and of course, world peace.

I love green. Love love love love.

There's also a bit of useless graphic making thrown in for good measure.

*snorts* You do beautiful graphics.

*giggles at the rest* World peace would be nice. Also, a lifetime supply of chocolate. Just piled up in an easily accessible place.

Though that, admittedly, would be hard on the thighs.

I find it difficult to write fic, not because I'm a bad writer, but because I'm not a really good writer.

Also I have fuschia toenails and bright orange fingernails and bright red hair.

My new years resolution for 2004 is that i want to be able to do 5 pushups by the end of it (proper pushups from the feet, not from the knees).

I am supposed to be going to an LJ gathering of popslash fans tomorrow, but am quite nervous because I never expect people to like me.

I could get *one*--if I get lucky. Very, very lucky.

I am supposed to be going to an LJ gathering of popslash fans tomorrow, but am quite nervous because I never expect people to like me.

See, this is why I want to go to a convention and never want to. I just have this insane belief that *everyone* will hate me when they meet me.

*shares the social fear*

Have a good time! Wear a weird hat. When all else fails, it makes good conversation. *g*

I'm secretly inept at most fix-it type things, and yet? I have put together every piece of furniture in my house on my own. Entertainment center, desk, dressers, library alcove bookcases, etc.

It's really weird. I get into a zone of sorts. It's fun because my mom, when I used to let her watch me put things together? Used to keep saying we need to call someone at the store to put it together because it is so, so hard.

I don't let people watch me anymore because I tend to curse a lot and talk to myself out loud. And yes, I do cry. But. It. Gets. Put. Together.

*admires room*

Um, okay. Now a question for you...What 'classic' story do you absolutely hate, and why?

I don't let people watch me anymore because I tend to curse a lot and talk to myself out loud. And yes, I do cry. But. It. Gets. Put. Together.

*dies* I love that. I can *see* it. *hee*

Um, okay. Now a question for you...What 'classic' story do you absolutely hate, and why?

Immortality by Grail. I mean, not because it's a bad story, but because it's freaking depressing. I ended up trying to re-reead it again and it hurt so much I gave up and shut it down. Even now.

I'm from Australia, and I'm insanely jealous that you were able to see Return of the King before we did. It only premiered here today (being the 26th of Dec), whereas you guys got it on...the 17th? Is that right? Anyways. Very jealous *g*

As for my question, I was just wondering, how many fandoms do you read, and how many fandoms do you write in? Is there a difference? Is there anything that you read/write that you sincerely hope no one finds out about? *bg*

I haven't seen it yet! No time. Stupid schedule.

A. Two--QaF and SV
B Oh yeah. Canon sex and no fantasy elements. The biggest weirdness is that while Lex is tractable, Brian is like pulling teeth. Justin and Clark speak to me pretty easily. Usually.
C. My one RPS. Mostly because it sucks and I have no desire to edit it. I've only emailed it to a few people, so the possibility of it being seen is very, very, very low.

I hope. *suddenly worried*

I am from Ireland. I lurk.

I have no interest in Lord of the Rings. I do not care at all. I found it boring. I don't know what all the fuss was about. There is so much more to say, but that would be a rant.

*begins to laugh*

I had issues with the books, I admit it. Just--grr. Like reading through tar.

(Deleted comment)
Wow. Chinese. I look at that language and feel my IQ dropping. The difficulty....*shivers*

What fairy tale character do you most identify with?

Huh. I'm not sure. Most of the heroines at this point just annoy me and I'm bad at remembering titles of the obscure ones I used to read.

I suppose on some level, Sleeping Beauty. Waiting to wake up. *g*

I'm Chris. Sometimes, I write. I also miss New Orleans, and I have admiration for your squishy frontal lobes.

(Merry whateveryoucelebrate!)

*grins* I have adorable frontal lobes. *pats*

And Merry Holidays to you, too!

I hate driving, so I bike and walk as much as I can.

I like to rollerblade every day.

Hee! I like to drive, but I'm bad at it--no concentration--so I tend to walk when I can.

Rollerblading is *fun*. Right until you lose control, say, going down a hill that *should not* have been there, and watching while your life flashes before your eyes like a movie. And worse? The movie is boring.

*g*

Like you, I'm looking for a change in jobs. However, when I move, I want to leave the state and start somewhere, anywhere fresh. (The advantage to having a grown son).

My question: What is it about writing that moves you? Do you have a sort of write or die complusion? Do you want to move into "real" fiction or are you content in fanfiction?

Okay, that's more than one, but they're all semi-related. *g*

Like you, I'm looking for a change in jobs. However, when I move, I want to leave the state and start somewhere, anywhere fresh.

I'm constantly tempted to do that. I am so *full* of envy. *admiring*

What is it about writing that moves you? Do you have a sort of write or die complusion?

Like fight or flight? *G*

Sometimes, yes, sometimes, no.

Sometimes, something has to be written, period, and forget having anything like a life or an independent thought until it's done. Like Dust, Somewhere, etc. That's about maybe a quarter of the time. (In SV, about half, actually). And then sometimes, it's more mellow, more comfortable, more--well. Just relaxing. This can be in the same story, though usually, a story is one or the other.

Do you want to move into "real" fiction or are you content in fanfiction?

I love what I do. I suppose when I feel the desire to do published fic, or publishable, rather, I will. I think. Actually, I don't know. *g* I suppose I'll know when I'm ready and capable of doing it. Make sense?

OK, here's mine: I really and truly love to DRIVE. Long distance, short hops, late-night runs across 3 counties, or multi-state non-stops, it really doesn't matter. And yet? I HATE the traffic and congestion that is prevalent 90% of the time on my local Beltway, so avoid it at all costs. To drive is to be MOVING, I guess.

My question for you: Where do you come up with the inspiration for your stories? And, HOW do you get such clarity regarding the inner workings of your characters' minds?

Reading your fic makes me wonder if their isn't a real-life version of the closet door in "Being John Malkovich" which allows you direct access to Lex & Clark's brains.

Gary

You are totally a roadtrip person, aren't you? I can see it.

Er. Magic?

No, okay, other fic, things, music. Recently, vids. I'm sure altricial would be kind of shocky that my Justin/Gus was done directly after a marathon viewing of her vids. It's like something wakes up in my head--I'm not always awake as a writer, it isn't always clear, or it's not always articulated enough for me to get the words to frame it. Or sometimes, nothing is there at all. And there's this--click, I want to call it, though lots of people have much better descriptions. It's that cliched thing about turning on a light, but it's more like turning on a player piano. It just starts, I get it out in some form, then feel like it's always been there. It's like the story was always there, always, it was just waiting for me to see it.

Wow, that sounds either insane or completely pretentious.

Thank you for the compliment, btw! *hugs*
